What Is an Additional Key?
The Additional Key is the genuine JLR remote‑key fob supplied as an OEM option for Jaguar & Land Rover vehicles. It combines a 433 MHz RFID transponder, a passive‑entry button and a key‑blade that can be inserted into the ignition for lock‑unlock, remote start, and key‑less‑entry functions.
OEM part number: JPLA‑20K056‑BP. The key is pre‑programmed with a unique 48‑bit ID that must be stored in the Body Control Module (BCM) via a TOPIx CCF update before it can operate the vehicle.

Wiring & Antenna Integration
The key’s antenna is a built‑in loop tuned to 433 MHz. The key itself is not wired to the vehicle; instead the transponder ID is stored in the BCM CCF. The only physical connection on the vehicle side is the **key‑programming port** (a 6‑pin diagnostic plug located behind the driver’s footwell).

Programming the Additional Key (TOPIx Workflow)
1️⃣ Preparation
- Park the vehicle, engage the hand‑brake and turn the ignition to “ON”.
- Connect a 70 A + battery maintainer to guarantee a stable voltage.
- Insert a certified
JLR Enet Wi‑Fiadapter into the OBD‑II port. - Launch TOPIx on a laptop with internet access; log in with engineering credentials.
2️⃣ Read Existing CCF
- Select Vehicle → Identify → Body Control Module (BCM) and click “Read CCF”.
- Locate the array
KeyIDList. This list holds up to 8 48‑bit IDs (factory‑fitted keys).
3️⃣ Add the New Key ID
- Insert the new Additional Key into the programming port.
- Press the “Program” button on the key for 2 seconds; the key will emit its encrypted ID.
- In TOPIx click **Read Key ID** – the software will capture the 48‑bit value (e.g.,
0x1A2B3C4D5E6F). - Add the captured ID to
KeyIDList(e.g., slot 5). Save the edited CCF. - Press **Write CCF** – TOPIx automatically updates the checksum.
4️⃣ Verification & Confirmation
- After a successful write, run BCM → Self‑Test → Key. The test will request the newly added key to lock/unlock the doors.
- Press the lock button on the Additional Key – doors should lock within 1 second.
- Clear any DTCs such as
C0A70‑00 – Key‑ID Mismatchusing the “Clear Fault Codes” command.
5️⃣ Final Validation
- Power‑cycle the vehicle (IGN OFF → ON) and repeat the lock/unlock test to ensure the key is retained.
- Run a quick “All Systems OK” scan in TOPIx – any remaining DTCs must be cleared.
- Record the new CCF checksum and programming date in the service log as proof of a factory‑approved key addition.
